What is the California AR Championship?

The California adventure racing championship (C-AR-C) is a points series for completing qualifying adventure races throughout California and Nevada.  Teams of 2, 3 or 4 members will be able to participate in events as short as 2 hours or as long as 4 days.  Points will be awarded both for overall team ranking at the race and for race distance/category.  Teams can do as many qualifying races, but only the 4 best team results for the year will be used to determine the California ARA champion.

Now you have a real adventure racing season! You can create a team strategy that lets you enjoy racing and participate in the championship series. Also, you can get to know who races at your level, who you can try to beat and who you may want to race with for the next season.

Championship - Rules, Guidelines, and FAQ

The point system is easy and so are our rules and guidelines.  Our goal is to help you build a team and have fun racing.

Step 1

Register (FREE) on the California ARA site. Make sure to add your "Team Name" to your profile

Step 2

Get just one more "Race Buddy" to race with you and have them register on the California-ARA site.

Step 3

Start Racing!!.  Your best 4 results for the year will count towards the championship.

Optional Steps (for bigger teams or for when you cannot race)

Step 4

Add up-to 3 additional race buddies (5 total) to your team.

As a core group of 5 racers, you will be able to participate in 2,3, or 4 person races. 

How do you get points for racing?

You get points for completeing a race and for your OVERALL race ranking.  Since races vary in length, you will get more points for completing longer races.  Here are the Category and Ranking points.

Your racing division is decided by your FIRST race results.  Race division are : Adventure Coed, Adventure All Men, Adventure All Women, Sprint Coed, Sprint All Men, Sprint All Women.  Once your division is set, it cannot be changed for the racing year.
